Determination of Finite Element Modelling Errors for Box Culverts Using Field Load Tests
نویسندگان
چکیده
Buried culverts have been in service more than half a century and their age raises questions about reliable serviceability for the new standard vehicles. The gross weight axle spacing of these trucks play an important role on performance buried where culvert is covered with shallow fill heights. Field live load tests were conducted by driving loaded truck over some at slow speed while recording data critical locations culvert. Finite element (FE) models developed calibrated using field test results. Live distribution formulations adopted from AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications different Two- three-dimensional FE modelled separately to compare section forces. results showed that error two modelling approach yields 100% maximum forces when heights between 60 cm 120 cm. This study aimed highlighting inherent numerical reinforced box design or rating purposes.

Flexural Strengthening of Deficient Reinforced Concrete Beams with Post-Tensioned Carbon Composites using Finite Element Modelling
The application of external post-tensioned steel bars as an effective way to strengthen an existing bridge has been so far used in many different countries. In recent decades, however, they have been replaced by bars made from Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP), as a material with high tensile strength and corrosion resistance, to address several concerns with steel bars such as their appli...

a simple, rapid and low-cost scanner spectroscopy method for the glucose determination by utilizing glucose oxidase and cdte/tga quantum dots as chromoionophore has been described. the detection was based on the combination of the glucose enzymatic reaction and the quenching effect of h2o2 on the cdte quantum dots (qds) photoluminescence.in this study glucose was determined by utilizing glucose...
Maximum Allowable Dynamic Load of Flexible 2-Link Mobile Manipulators Using Finite Element Approach
In this paper a general formulation for finding the maximum allowable dynamic load (MADL) of flexible link mobile manipulators is presented. The main constraints used for the algorithm presented are the actuator torque capacity and the limited error bound for the end-effector during motion on the given trajectory. The precision constraint is taken into account with two boundary lines in plane w...
متن کاملDynamic Load Carrying Capacity of Flexible Manipulators Using Finite Element Method and Pontryagin’s Minimum Principle
In this paper, finding Dynamic Load Carrying Capacity (DLCC) of flexible link manipulators in point to-point motion was formulated as an optimal control problem. The finite element method was employed for modelling and deriving the dynamic equations of the system. The study employed indirect solution of optimal control for system motion planning. Due to offline nature of the method, many diffic...
متن کاملVelocity Field Modelling for Pollutant Plume Using 3-D Adaptive Finite Element Method
Air pollution models usually start from the computation of the velocity field of a fluid. In this paper, we present a model for computing that field based on the contribution of the observed wind flow and the vertical buoyancy or momentum plume rise defined by a Gaussian plume model. This initial velocity field is adjusted to verify incompressibility and impermeability conditions by using a mas...
